Help - Weird Video Prob
I uninstalled Kazaa Lite, DLExpert, Advanced Avi Splitter and Expert Avi Joiner. Now I get the message "no combination of filters could be found to render the stream" whenever ANY video in .avi format that I have on my HD that use to work a couple days ago perfectly. I don't know if they above uninstallations are related to this prob or not but I did a couple things:
1)tried to play the videos via Real player, Windows Media Player, Zoom Player, BSPlayer and even a DivX one. 2)updated to latest divx codec 3)re-installed latest XviD codecs 4)re-installed windows media player 7.1 5)used a proggy called 'Gspot' to see if i had necessary codecs, I did 6)drivers were already updated and not altered lately anyways, so i never touched them. 7)used 'ad-aware' to check for spyware (my hd was clean) 8)ran 'norton anti-virus' (i found no infected files) STILL NO LUCK note my operating system = win98 summary: all my vids use to work perfectly a few days ago and this morning i wanted to clear my hd of stuff i don't even use, so i did. Then I wanted to watch an .avi but it never worked. any help would be appreciated, Thanks in advance. Last edited by anabeces; 13th November 2003 at 21:56. |

I do not have the programs you mentioned, but I have Win98 and at some point in the past, all video except some in QuickTime would not play. Wait a sec...after opening a video file (avi) in media player to check what error message it gave, it actually played the video...WEIRD!
I had a hunch it might've had something to do with kazaa, but after removing spyware it still was a problem. I'm not sure what to make of this the error message (if I remember correctly) in windows media player 7.01_____ was something like "ran out of memory." Very confusing [edit]: When I tried opening a .mpg file, windows media player doesn't work. I know my version isn't the newest, but that's not the point. RealPlayer doesn't work either. The error in media player is: "object or name not found" [edit2]: .wmv files play fine in windows media player [edit 3 (I will simply add on new discoveries onto this edit]: I just got a .mpeg file to play...hmmm. I also just got other .mpg files to play. This is very weird. I'm a DJ. yep, I just realized that .mpeg and .wmv play perfectly fine.
However all videos in .avi format give me the message "no combination of filters could be found to render the stream" in Windows Media Player. I wonder if I should re-installed Kazaa Lite. |

yeah, try and see if you can find anything for running processes/startup registry things. I made a couple of changes that were recommended by my spyware software, and then I saw your post...and when I try to play a video file to see what the error says, it PLAYS a file.
