Streaming Live But At a Low Bitrate (8 kbps)

I want to stream a live voice only event using Shoutcast. However, The lowest encoding it offers though is 20kbps. I'd rather used 8kbps so I can get on more listeners in my bandwidth allocation.

I've checked out the outcast DSP which can encode at lower bit rates, but it doesn't seem to support live (soundcard in) events.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Try the old version of the DSP's which support low bitrate streaming.

Check out the Sticky post titled:

Scroll down a bit and look for the section titled:
General SHOUTcast Information -> Where can I download the old version of SHOUTcast DSP?

Yes, I know it says DSP. It also has older DNASs.

Alternatively, check out Sawg Stuff.
