Underrun issues
I keep having underrun issues.
one day it's fine the next I have issues. is this a sign that I need to drop stream to something lower? I have put part of my log at the bottom of this message <11/25/03@09:04:35> [dest: 198.190.222.37] starting stream (UID: 187)[L: 1]{A: WinampMPEG/2.9}(P: 0) <11/25/03@09:04:37> [dest: 198.190.222.37] connection closed (2 seconds) (UID: 187)[L: 0]{Bytes: 24576}(P: 0) <11/25/03@09:04:38> [dest: 198.190.222.37] starting stream (UID: 188)[L: 1]{A: WinampMPEG/2.9}(P: 0) <11/25/03@09:04:39> [dest: 198.190.222.37] connection closed (1 seconds) (UID: 188)[L: 0]{Bytes: 24576}(P: 0) <11/25/03@09:04:40> [dest: 198.190.222.37] starting stream (UID: 189)[L: 1]{A: WinampMPEG/2.9}(P: 0) <11/25/03@09:04:42> [dest: 198.190.222.37] connection closed (2 seconds) (UID: 189)[L: 0]{Bytes: 24576}(P: 0) <11/25/03@09:04:42> [dest: 198.190.222.37] starting stream (UID: 190)[L: 1]{A: WinampMPEG/2.9}(P: 0) <11/25/03@09:04:45> [dest: 198.190.222.37] connection closed (3 seconds) (UID: 190)[L: 0]{Bytes: 24576}(P: 0) <11/25/03@09:07:29> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! <11/25/03@09:08:49> [dest: 192.31.106.34] starting stream (UID: 191)[L: 1]{A: RMA/1.0 (compatible; RealMedia)}(P: 0) <11/25/03@09:10:31> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! <11/25/03@09:13:32> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! <11/25/03@09:16:34> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! <11/25/03@09:19:35> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! <11/25/03@09:22:37> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! <11/25/03@09:25:38> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! <11/25/03@09:27:49> [dest: 192.31.106.35] starting stream (UID: 192)[L: 2]{A: RMA/1.0 (compatible; RealMedia)}(P: 2) <11/25/03@09:28:40> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! <11/25/03@09:28:45> [dest: 192.31.106.34] connection closed (1196 seconds) (UID: 191)[L: 1]{Bytes: 15818752}(P: 0) <11/25/03@09:31:41> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! <11/25/03@09:34:43> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! <11/25/03@09:35:16> [dest: 80.50.87.198] starting stream (UID: 193)[L: 2]{A: WinampMPEG/5.0}(P: 0) <11/25/03@09:35:26> [dest: 80.50.87.198] connection closed (10 seconds) (UID: 193)[L: 1]{Bytes: 49152}(P: 0) <11/25/03@09:37:44> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! <11/25/03@09:40:45> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! <11/25/03@09:43:50> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! <11/25/03@09:46:53> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! <11/25/03@09:49:54> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! <11/25/03@09:52:57> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! |

I see no errors.
"yp added me" means your station information (station name, bitrate, maximum number listeners, current number listeners, currently playing song, ...) has been added to the SHOUTcast yp (yellow pages) directory. "yp touched" means your station information (station name, bitrate, maximum number listeners, current number listeners, currently playing song, ...) has been updated in the SHOUTcast yp directory. It can take up to 15 minutes after the first "yp touched" message before your station appears from a SHOUTcast yp search. -- Michael |

That is a normal log snippet.. but I guarantee that you won't be able to handle 32 listeners at 128kbps.
Check out the Sticky post titled: SHOUTcast: Important Info & Answers to FAQs. READ ME! Scroll down a bit and look for the section titled: 1. DNAS Stuff -> Bandwidth -> DSLReports Bandwidth tester(Only be concerned with the UPLOAD bandwidth) 2. DNAS Stuff -> Bandwidth -> CasterClub's Listener Calculator 3. DNAS Stuff -> Bandwidth -> CasterClub's Bandwidth Calculator Use 1 to find your upload. Use 2 to determine the number of listeners you can support at your selected streaming bitrate. Additionally, your listeners download needs to exceed your streaming bitrate. Jay (KXRM) also has a Bandwidth Calculator. -- Michael |

ok yeah I think it's my listeners download speed problem. I'm not worried about having that many people on there because there won't be. I'm just to lazy to drop it down.

Feel free to keep it at 128kbps, but if listeners connect and get buffering, they won't return.

everyone who is connecting to my server has T1 or better. Part of the porblem is I also have a Team Speak server, and 5 FTP servers on there as well so the bandwidth changed depending who is on.

If you have other things using your upload bandwidth, which you obviously do have, you should consider lowering your bitrate a bit.
