These files must be decompressed with Monkey Audio as well to work?
Thanks in advance!

Decompressed? You mean decoded back to WAV?
No, I don't think so. Not in Winamp (2.x / 5.x), no idea about Winamp3 though... Monkeys Audio supports .APE (and .MAC ?) files only SHN = Shorten Lossless Compression The ShnAmp plugin is here. Note, there's a Winamp plugin for 2/5 and also a Winamp3 component available. CUE files are not audio files. They are cuesheets, which provide index pointers to tracks if the cd was ripped into one large file (as opposed to separate tracks). eg. filename.cue matches and works with the appropriate filename.mp3 MP3Cue plugin is here BIN files . . . afaik, these are NOT audio files. BIN usually stands for Binary. It's possible that these files have got the wrong extension. Not sure... They could be raw audio data, or a cd image, or they could be related to the CUE cuesheets. Anyone? The only seemingly relevant info I could find was this |

Actually on the toolbar it read "Decompress". Then it became a WAV file. Is decode and decompress the same thing. If not, where do you decode.

The Monkeys Audio plugin is a decoder. All input plugins which provide playback support for any compressed format are decoders. The compressed audio is temporarily decompressed during playback, but you don't need to manually decompress/save it to an uncompressed WAV file just for playback purposes. That would kind of defeat the purpose of encoding/compressing it in the first place.
I don't personally use Monkeys Audio, so I've no idea what 'toolbar' you are referring to... but it seems to me like it also provides an option to decompress and save back to a WAV file, if you so wish, more than likely so the WAV can then be used for burning to CD. Besides all that, you've totally lost me... lol ![]() What are you trying to do exactly? And did you get the SHN files to play ok with the ShnAmp plugin? |

Yes, I got the SHN to play with the plugin for Winamp3. Didn't try the one for 5 yet.

**** I'm speaking of APE files in this particular answer
Thank you DJEgg I do believe I follow you. Once you have the plugin you can playback the file. When you decompress it becomes a WAV file and that is the file(s) that you use for burning. You don't necessarily have to decompress to playback. Just for burning purposes. **** Here for SHN The plugin worked. What about burning SHN? Thanks!! |
