Linux + ALSA...Am I missing something?
Ok, first off the specs:
CPU: P4 2.4 -> 3.12GHz RAM: 1GB (2x512MB DDR400 Dual Channel) HD: 360GB (3x120GB) Motherboard: ASUS P4P800 OS: Gentoo Linux (2.4.23 w/ OSS compiled in) Sound Card: Terratec DMX 6Fire 24/96 (snd-ice1712) ALSA: 1.0.0rc2 Now for the problem. I have the transcoder installed, and it connects to the shoutcast server itself fine. In the playlist.lst I have: This is what the client shows:code: and this is what the server shows:code: etc...code: As you can see the connection is being made, however when people connect, they don't hear anything. I'm broadcasting from my turntables/mixer connected to the kickbox of my soundcard, which I can hear perfectly fine through the speakers attached to the computer, however it seems like no matter what I do, the transcoder won't pick up the sound that's coming into the card to deliver it to the server. Any insight as to why this may be occuring (or better...not occurring) would be greatly appreciated. |

Same Problem
i have exactly the same problem.
Would be really nice if someone could help on this. I can send Mp3-Files, works perfectly. But i HAVE to make a Live-Broadcast, with mixing, voice-over and so on. And when i try with DSP:/dev/audio it connects but no one can hear me *sigh* It seems to be a problem with the /dev/audio or the soundcard itself. SC_Trans sends something, the Stream is ok. But nothing can be heared ! PS: I have Suse-Linux 8.2 Last edited by cityhunter2023; 11th December 2003 at 08:48. |

In the example.lst file it says it always ingoners the first item in the playlist and if you have a one item playlist enter it twice including DSP items. If you have done this have you tried setting the DSP item to something spurios such as /dev/wibble to see if this throws sc_trans off, if it is fine with that then it suggests that the /dev/audio setting (or whatever) does not point to your soundcard.
