Setting the bitrate suddenly stopped working for me - is there anything that I can check? Everything now encodes at about 12kbps, and it seems to ignore the bitrate i specify entirely.

thanks.

are you putting it in bps? ex: 128kbps would be 128000 or somewhere around there.

another thing you might add to this site is how to include an OGG stream into your .nsv file - if such a thing is possible. MP3 high range almost makes my ears bleed its so distorted. I don't know if its my imagination or if I can just hear little distortions but i can't stand MP3.

additionally, how the heck do you start a new topic in this forum? i was going to ask the ogg question in its own thread but i can't seem to find a link to start a new thread, and i've spent an relatively large amount of time looking.

thanks.

button " post a new topic" probably is what you are searching
as for Vorbis currently it seems impossible to playback and probably encoding is broken, for lower bitrate audio try aac , and yes there is search button :P to search about aac

I am wondering why the post a new topic button only shows up in IE.

I won't be posting new topics until this heresy is corrected, not that i had anything useful to say anyway.

no ogg, no mozilla. what next, no foreigners?

actually its probably my fault because of my ad-blocking .css file but i don't have anything good to say so it doesn't matter.

i'm sure there are, but they don't seem to hang around here too much.

it would seem that since winamp already plays oggs natively that it would be a simple matter to write a wrapper for encoding it into an nsv stream... unless there is some incompatability with ogg and nsv i see no reason why it wouldn't work. i however, am not a programmer.

i think there is incompatibilities , i maybe wrong but vorbis uses some global headers, while mp3 and aac don't, probably sreaming would be impossible , i MAY be worng

I've listened to OGG streams before, so I know its streamable. whether or not it fits into the nsv container or not, I do not know.

There is a program called "DarkIce" hosted on sourceforge that says it has the ability to encode Ogg Vorbis and pass it to a shoutcast server.

Quote:
DarkIce is an IceCast, IceCast2 and ShoutCast live audio streamer. It takes audio input from a sound card, encodes it into mp3 and/or Ogg Vorbis, and sends the streams to one or more IceCast, ShoutCast and/or IceCast2 servers

You can stream ogg with Icecast2. I do not think it's available for SHOUTcast yet.

Those statements were posted on the web site. I dont have access to a linux box, so i personally cant vouch for them.

Perhaps some one with access to a linux box can give this a try and confirm or deny the claims on the web site.

Who knows, the claims might actually be true. Stranger things have been known to happen.

couple of things, when you get the chance...

nice site
simple layout
info is all there
thanks

two things
1) the link for the VP6 codec needs correcting, I think...

Quote:
Download and install the VP6 decoder DLL file nsvdec_vp6.dll
You can download this file from here - vp56wa5.zip
The link leads to http://firehose.net/~christophe/vp56wa5.zip%20

You need http://firehose.net/~christophe/vp56wa5.zip to be the url, as in take out the space (%20) in the hyperlink

2) I've got a .tk domain as well, nice as it is, you might want to turn off their pop up window advert. You don't need to start paying or anything, just login to your account as normal ( http://my.dot.tk/cgi-bin/login02.taloha ??), and then click on the link in the left hand column that states - Dot TK Linker Promo - it should take you to http://my.dot.tk/cgi-bin/rnt04.taloha or similair...
Read through, click continue - assuming drop down box has the right domain, and then choose no banner - the little radio button
click on continue blah blah blah - u get the idea...

Re: couple of things, when you get the chance...

Fixed the web link - oooops

Fixed the wretched pop up - YES !

Did a stats check, not bad for being up and running for 4 days. Not record breaking numbers by any means, but it shows that Nullsoft is attracting lots of folks with this.

1 U.S.A. 158
2 United Kingdom 35
3 Germany 32
4 Canada 31
5 Netherlands 13
6 Japan 12
7 Israel 9
8 France 7
9 Unknown 7
10 Italy 6

Total visitors in this period: 357

Thanks for the great information easyvisit

Any other suggestions or recomendations are always appreciated. I want to see NSV continue to gain users and broadcasters and the way to do this is to make sure that good information is out their for everyone to use.

Glad to be of some help
Your stats kind of dwarf mine (www.easyvisit.tk)

One other thing, is the little box at the bottom of your front page supposed to only have an advert - as in real time stats box, or is it supposed to show any numbers to normal visitors, rather than the site op?
If you need a hit counter, htmlcounter.com, the one I use, seems to work well, and you can edit their HTML code so it doesn't include their advert. I'm not related to them at all, just thought I'd mention it...
If thats not what you need, no worries...

Good luck.
