Winamp -> Minidisc
I have a problem: I have a Sony MD-player and an optical wire from my computer to my MD. With this I would like to play music on my computer and record it on a MD-disc. However, the Rec Sync function doesn't add new tracks but records everything I play into one track.
Does anyone have a solution for this? I've came up with nothing that have worked.

Is it a MD-walkman or the new NET-MD walkman? THe Net thingie should be able to "sync" with your playlist. SONY helpdesk, maybe?

No not Net MD
No it's not a Net MD. I thought I'd write here instead since maybe someone with winamp have had the same problem.

Ok, no offence intended, sorry.
I personally think (I don't have this MD-stuff), that if it works with CD-walkmans' optical out, than there shouldn't be a problem with a PCs' optical out. But I don't know, I don't use MDs... no problem mate. but it's not the optical line that's the problem. the problem is that the md somehow doesn't recognize a paus between the mp3's in the winamp playlist and thus doesn't create a new track. but the music delivers quite spledidly.

Would be nice if you'll also either link to it or at least give out its name...

the existing ones suck. all that is needed is something to automatically pause and unpause between tracks. This would break the signal ( i know, cos i do it manually) and would make me and cedergren very happy. anyone?

solved (partially)
I've found a way to deal with this problem. There are several softwares that manually add a pause between each song in the winamp playlist. WinCue or something is one name, and paus between songs or something. But this didn't help me at all because if I add a 7 sec pause my MD will create a track with only the pause. And if I shorten it down it might also miss it. So, for now, I'll just record everything into one track and burn the tracks later on.
Ideas are still welcome. Mikael.

That actaully depends on the sound card and sound card driver. It's a shame those manufacturers don't provide us developers with the proper information to control the digital output ourselves
![]() On some cards/drivers, simply muting wave output will cause the signal to stop, on others it can't be stopped no matter what you do (i.e. my Game Theatre XP *always* sends a signal on the optic output as long as the PC is on). For now, the only solution I can think of is recording analog instead. (Not a very good solution, yes, I know.) |

If you want something so badly, use the search function. I know that most people who use these forums have not heard of the search function before, but I can tell yo that the search function is the most useful of the all the methods of getting information out of the forums. Legend has it that the search function has been here since the forums began, but because it is so quiet, the search function is pretty much ignored. |

Oh, I know what search means and what its function is, however... If you're going to write something helpful, why not take it all the way, Moderator, and help by linking to that plug-in.
But nevermind, for some people - it is just too hard. Don't take this too harshly.
