No, that screatching is encoded into the mp3, you cant get rid of it without loosing that part of the song.

uh I think the screaching is only on the mp3s you've downloaded on Kazaa. I'd be shocked if they put screaches on ripping mp3 music. Considering ITS LEGAL TO RIP A CD YOU"VE BOUGHT FOR PERSONAL USE.

yes pretty sure it is only kazaa, and only some of the mp3's at that, encountered one disc of "Evanescence" tracks which produced KILLLER headaches cuz it didn't make that sound till part way through and the volume was way up, but just download a different version of the mp3.
(not sure but i would think you wouldn't find those if you use the "bad ip ranges updater" in kazaa lite frequently) sides would anyone at all pay even $15 if it did that on your ripped cd's???
I hate everyone, so you don't have to. |

can't use Kazaa lite anymore, Kazaa won their case. If you didn't know Kazaa Lite was a program sent out by the RIAA in order to get usernames of people that grossly illegally downloaded files. Kazza(original) sued Kazaa Lite for copyright infringement....and won.
Also those Evansence songs sound better with the screaching IMHO.

I know, it's all quite entertaining, the endless irony of this discussion of copyright infringment. I care not to think about it.
Besides, I use Overnet. Far more media, and far more reliable, if a bit slow. The same day Deus Ex Invisible War came out, it was on the network (Thanks Deviance!), and had thousands of sources. I just installed it, and I'm now signing off to play. Take it easy peeps. |

"If you didn't know Kazaa Lite was a program sent out by the RIAA in order to get usernames of people that grossly illegally downloaded files."
This is absolutely completely untrue. Kazaa Lite worked against the RIAA and Sharmin Networks (creators of the original Kazaa). If you notice, the site kazaalite.tk has the domain of TK. Registering a .TK domain name is free, indicating that the creator of Kazaa Lite did not have a lot of money to spend on extras such as a .com, .net, .org, etc. If the RIAA really wanted to push this thing, they would have used a more common domain. Also, if the RIAA wants to combat file sharing (obviously) they aren't going to use a file sharing program that gains the underground notoriety that Kazaa Lite did. They would also use a legally-safe name that wouldn't get them sued. One very popular misconception is that DOWNLOADING files is legal at the moment. However, UPLOADING files is not (that is, the sending or sharing of files with others). If you turn uploading to other users off in Kazaa Lite, no one will know your username unless you are downloading from them. And your username isn't even what they use to catch you, it's your IP address because a million people could have the same username. I'm going to catch flak for this I know, and I am in favor of file sharing, but music can't be free and still survive. I love music and listen constantly, but I am a supporter of paid music. The problem with CDs is that you get a couple songs you like (sometimes as few as one song) and then you hate the rest of the CD and can't listen to music for long without changing it. Also CDs used to be $18-$20 and it was hard for younger people to afford them. But now both of those problems are fixed: you can download only the songs you like for the regular price at many places including iTunes, AudioGalaxy.com, and BuyMusic.com. And record companies have seen the light and have lowered the prices of CDs so that you can get them for $9-$15, more often on the lower side. If a CD or song does well and no one gets paid much, why would the artist/label want to put out another CD or song that they could lose money on or make very little on? It's their job to make music and if they can't get any money out of it, they'll eventually stop. [EDIT] I still have a copy of the latest version of Kazaa Lite, which was called Kazaa Lite K++ 2.43 (English). At some point I will put this into hosting somewhere and post the link. If you check out the official Kazaa lite forums, you will find thet there are people working on getting the current KMD as a lite version. Apparently soon, users of kazaa lite, won't be able to access those people who use KMD.

I just want to concur with what smt142 has to say about pay vs no pay of downloaded music. The record companies are finally waking up and realizing what they should have realized when their sales started dropping.....it wasn't the illegal file sharing that was hurting their business but the price of their music and the quality of their music. smt142 hit it right on the head. And it looks as though someone finally woke up to the facts. Too bad RIAA wouldn't wake up as well.
I used kazaa lite ++ or whatever it is called and downloaded a lot of files with it. I set the uploads to only one at a time and probably only had 20 or so people download from me in total. I did this for a reason. Every song that I downloaded I had purchased at one time or another in my lifetime (and I won't tell you how long that is but it is a long time)and either lost or gave away the tape, disk or record long ago, so I don't feel like I owe the RIAA or any record company any apologies for that. I paid for those songs at least once and sometimes twice, but I did feel a little guilty if I allowed them to be uploaded from me. Now, what other people do is their business but I feel like I was not hurting the songwriter or performer in any way by downloading something I had already paid for. The real sad thing here is that these performers are not getting paid fairly by the record companies today. It's become a sad state of affairs in the recording industry overall when money comes before anything else, and that is why we are seeing so many artists and so much junk on CD's today. I like what is happening now with the online purchasing of music. You can get what you want and leave it at that. So, smt142, I concur fully with what you say. You have hit the "proverbial" nail on the head. Now, maybe, we will start seeing a better overall quality of music than we have in the last three or four years........... |
