Winamp 5, CAN U SAY BLOATWARE

what the hell is going on with Winamp, Remember the good old days when it was a non-resource hog and played fine. Well keep on remembering them cause it ain't happening w/ version 5. Going back to version 2.8 or maybe earlier. Been using Winamp since it came out and it just keeps getting worse. Good job fellas

you don't have to install all the features. simply uncheck the boxes. the player and that under the hood is much better than 2.8. just install the bare minimum like mp3 support, and the core and u'll be good to go if you don't like the rest of it.

LMAO apparently some people do still use 486's, installed all the components in the full installer and have all the direct sound output buffers at max and WA5 uses way less than WA3

Jeez, there's a ton of December 2003 signed-up users who make only 1 post and only ever point out things that aren't true or exagerrated. We'll be seeing more of these "WINAMP 5 IS CRAP" threads for the next month. Once these people are told, once each, that this is not the case and here's why, they will eventually get smaller in number.

wow I just noticed that I have over 400 posts, and I haven't post-pumped at all, unlike most of our Major Dude's.

i agree... happened with every release of wa3, and on 2.X when video was added... oh well

Just get the Lite version and install it straight on top of 2.x
then at least you'll have the latest version of 2.x
(or do as everyone else says above)
