iexplore sux - what's the alternative ???
i really want to use the winamp minibrowser, but in iexplore i can't change back something i did :
i did something wrong when opening *.m3u in iexplore, now when clicking on a m3u in iexplore window it just gives an error instead of loading it into winamp. i dont know how to change this in iexplore, so the solution for that would be helpful too. the other thing is that i dont like iexplore at all, i use mozilla for normal browsing. but winamp minibrowser uses iexplore, so what can i do ????? is there a pplugin which makes the mnibrowser use another browser, or any other help ?? thank you very much. |

That'salready on the offical wishlist(Mozilla for minibrowser).
Hopefully someone knows the answer to your other question, I haven't used IE in far too long to know this one. But I'm feeling much better now. |

Yeah, like you said, all you have to do is change the file settings for m3u files. To do this, open up My Computer and click on Tools, then Folder Options. Now click on the tab for File Types. Now find m3u in the list, and click on it. At the bottom of the window, it will show what m3u files are currently opened with (in your case, IE). Click on Change, and find Winamp. Then click Apply/OK and your problem is solved.

*bump*
Why doesn't Winamp check to see what your default browser is? or does it in 5.01 (still haven't downloaded it) |

Because it uses IE and when you click a link in IE, IE opens the link in IE.

ok, something got messed with your filetype associations. this guide shows you what the proper settings for an *.m3u file would be. This guide is written for Win98.
Go to a folder. Click on view, folder options, then click on the file types tab scroll down until you see 'Winamp Playlist File' click on it, and hit edit. there will be several commands you can edit that are normally accessible through the right-click interface. ----------- Description of type: Winamp playlist file Content Type (MIME): audio/mpegurl Default Extension for Content Type: *.m3u NO QUICKVIEW NO ALWAYS SHOW EXT NO CONF OPEN AFTER DOWNLOAD Enqueue in Winamp { "C:\PROGRAM FILES\WINAMP\WINAMP.EXE" /ADD "%1" NO DDE } Play in Winamp { "C:\PROGRAM FILES\WINAMP\WINAMP.EXE" "%1" NO DDE } Add to Winamp's Bookmark List { "C:\PROGRAM FILES\WINAMP\WINAMP.EXE" /BOOKMARK "%1" NO DDE } Open { "C:\PROGRAM FILES\WINAMP\WINAMP.EXE" "%1" NO DDE } Hope that helps |
