Disturbing movies
What movies did you see that you could truly say were 'disturbing' ?
Mine was "The Piano Player" by Michael Haneke. Clinical portait of a woman driven crazy by sexual frustration. Not very good, but disturbing for sure. Post people

Crossroads
I have never watched it all the way through, and have no desire to either, but while flipping through the movie channels, I came across the movie at this one particular part. That part is where Brittney Spears is dressed "punk style" singing a cover of Joan Jett's "I Love Rock N Roll"... Were some of my emotions after seeing that tramatizing moment...What a disgrace to Joan Jett, who is a real rocker and not some teeny bopper plastic doll!

Requiem for a Dream. Has some truths which were a little close to home, at the time that I first saw it. =)

Seven: That movie is just sooo dark. And has one of the most fucked up endings.

I have never thought of any film as being disturbing. Any film that promotes itself as such is usually shit, or trying to "break the mould", but fails abysmally.

The first Pokemon movie.
Good lord... All of the Pokemon movies. I hate Pokemon. But, in order to say I hate it, I have to know about it first. I've seen most of the episodes, and all of the movies. I'm safe to say I HATE POKEMON. ...Except Jolteon. Jolteon pwnz some serious ass. just as feathery as ever |

Frances with Jessica Lange, released in 1982.
Frances is about the life of a talented actress in the 40s who turned crazy because of a lack of psychiatric care and drug abuse. The movie is not shocking but I saw it when I was younger and maybe some scenes had some effect on me..

I don't know anyone else who knows this movie...I didn't think it was disturbing, it was too weird in a funny way.I never found a movie very disturbing except maybe the Exorcist when I was younger and the video scene from the ring since it triggered something in my head - I use to dream in pictures like that, then wake up and have a weird feeling that I am really afraid but don't know why - I had the same feeling during the video sequence although the pics weren't scary..weird, I know. Requiem For A Dream.
I believe everyone should see it, well unless you are too young to understand it, it's very explicit in what it trys to protray, and it does something that is so hard to usually do, make you feel exactly what the people are going through in their drug addictions that leads to their ruined lives. The acting is absolutely outstanding, and it's one of those shocking films you must see, but not whilst depressed. |

Donnie Darko.
House of 1000 corpses wasn't disturbing, it was boring... Freedom of speech is the basic freedom of humanity. "Apocolypse Now" was particularly disturbing for me. It still is. "Jacob's Ladder" still gives me the creeps, too.

Lost Highway, certainly convoluted and most deservingly gets my WTF stamp of disapproval.
Cube and Cube 2 were also involved a bit disturbing but cool none the less. Last edited by EfaustuS9; 28th December 2003 at 23:53. |

Pi. It's by the same guy who directed Requim for a Dream, but came before it. It has a lot of the same feel, but 10x stranger. Still a good movie nonetheless. If you liked Requim, see Pi.

The Ring.
I love the way it plays with youre mind to make u scared. It breaks the mold by haveing a horror flick with no knifes .. unlike most horror movies.. What made it more scary is when a phone rings while watching the darn thing ! I honistly did not get any sleep that night after watching this movie.and i am a massave horror movie fan.....and never got scared by any other movie.

I hate anime things like digimon, pokemon, they just really piss me off. They corrupt the minds of poor little children who then persuade their parents to buy them all the products that are ascociated with the movie. And those cards, OMFG, who pays that kind of money for cards.
And the console games, ohhhhh!! Puffs of purple smoke and all this weird, scary, dumbass stuff. The world is doomed I tell you. I like anime, but even the "anime for children" is mentally corrupting...It has no value in watching and is repetative...How can our pre-teen youth stand up to this insanity? I'm more sane, but I just can't take it anymore! ARGH!!!11~

No, I don't believe the Japanese are trying to take over the world with anime, but with their technological advances and the sexually-orientated "products" they make, I'd still be worried...
And on that last comment, I'd find that more disturbing than any international movie made... [edit]Oh..."Dude, Where's My Car"...The scene where those 2 guys kiss... [/edit]
