please let this thread die, pointless joke inside

what do you do if a newbie comes and asks you a question that has been answered trillion times before?

answer (instead of swearing):

"FAQ you"

this joke will self destruct in 3 milliseconds, and you can do nothing about it... forum-hole"

Need a rules change:

"All new members will be required to FAQ themselves before posting. Any questions on how to FAQ properly can be forwarded to the moderation team, who are very experienced at group FAQing. FAQing another forum member is not allowed."

Consentual FAQing between regular forum members is OK. But a newbie can't ask a regular forum member to FAQ them. Newbies will have to FAQ themselves.

Simply answer there question. Point them also in the direction of FAQ so they can tehn find answers for them selves and then welcome them to the forum.

the repeated disdain and abuse new members get for simply asking a question is beyond me.
OK yes they should read the guidelines..but that still is not a reason to give disdain simply like i say point them in the right direction and welcome them is what I say. Much nicer

I agree. I'm just having fun with wordplay, that's all. We were all FAQed-up newbies at some point, and we all like to be treated respectfully, whether we've been FAQed or not. I just make it a point after joining any forum to FAQ myself repeatedly before I ever start posting.

(OK...sorry for all the FAQing around.)
