winamp 5 resets

I'm using winamp 5.01, XP pro

everytime i open winamp.. it resets back to default. like default skin, EQ resets, pref setting. it does it often even after i fully reinstalled it again. i can't find any threads about this issue. anyone know the problem?

1. While Winamp 5 is not running, go to the WA5 folder, usually C: \Program Files\Winamp depending on where WA5 was installed.
2. Right click on Winamp.ini
3. select Properties
4. General tab
5. make sure Read-only is unchecked
6. OK button
7. do the same for Studio.xnf

both of those files in winamp directory were already UNCHECKED under properties..

Are you using Winamp 5 on a user account? Winamp needs proper access to its folder to access/save settings. More info. in the following thread...

Or, do you have any 3rd party Winamp plug-ins? A dodgy plug-in may be preventing Winamp from properly saving is settings.

Also be sure to close Winamp before shutting down Windows or the computer.
