only been workign a few hours. main window is almost done...kinda...ish...do you people have any idea how hard it is to make a smooth animation in those volume and balance bars! esp balance where it only uses like 7 of the 28 frames (which I wish i had known earlier )

My God, that volume must have been a pain to make! Hope it doesn't look like crap. ;-) Good luck with this skin, it doesn't look bad. I would almost suggest switching the yellow and the red, but I don't know for sure how it'll look. Good start.

Looks good. The only problem I have with it is that the graphics on this site are actually hexagons rather than circles. But they'd look better as circles in my opinion anyway.

I realzied that once I got about halfway done, but I liked the cirlces better also, so I left them. I may try to use more hexagons in the playlist.

on an offnote, does anyone know a way to get rid of the EQ slider?

Can't, unless you crop the EQ.bmp file, and if you do that you will also crop off all the EQ bars into the bargain.

Open this .wsz and look at the eq.bmp file contained within.

You could make the slider the same color as the background, and animate around it, but that's usually not very productive. That's kinda what Steve Moss did on Major Tom, if you know what I'm talking about, but that's kind of different.

I just thought of a new better way to do the EQ bars. i'll do it in a few hours, its 12 am and I need sleep. This skinning thing ain't so hard once you get the hang of it. I may scrap the fourm colours and theme and adjust it to be something else with a similar style, as I am liking the circles very much. I'd just need a good 3-colour colour scheme....

I am worknig on a skin, and it was going ot be based off the new WA website, but the stlye of the skin is quickly becomming different from the site, so I am looknig for a new 3 colour colour scheme that you all (as people who use skins I hope) would like to see. I'm looking for three different colours, not like blue, light blue, and dark blue. RGB hex numbers would help also.

I was kinda afraid of that, but I tried to make the circles look like the symbols.

teh play button is kinda a trianle the same way it would be, the "add" on the playlist is kinda in a + shape, subtract is "-", etc. not the most user friendly, but anyone who has used winamp for more than an hour should be able to figure it out I hope.

Looks promising. Looks kind of cool, but I think it could look. As Ruud says, it's a bit messy at the moment - but I don't think it would take much to clean it up. My criticims are:

-the streams of circles in the EQ seem a rough. I think they should flow more fluidly - at the moment, there are too many jagged angles in the patterns of circles. Also, some of the circles don't seem perfectly round atm.

- The PLAY and NEXT cbuttons are very similar - while the STOP and LAST ones are almost identical. This doesn't seem very logical or clear. I think the NEXT and LAST should be similar to each other and dissimilar to all the other ones

-The OPEN cbutton at the moment seems almost like an extension of SHUFFLE, rather than being its own button

-towards the right side, it gets pretty messy. There are a whole bunch of circles that don't do anything, and the SHUFFLE and REPEAT barely stand out from the rest of it - plus the SHUF and REP don't seem separate enough to each other (nor from the OPEN cbutton as mentioned). The end result, for me, is that what should be 4 separate buttons just looks like one big mess (so to speak) of circles, some of which aren't pressable

as for the eq bars, I think i know what I did wrong there.

c-buttons I will work on, but I was going for a "continuation" kind of look, where the circles all were one in teh same flow, if that makes any sence. I'll work on it

I added a 1 px thick cream line under the red part of the playlist so it matches the EQ and Main window. it's not in the .wsz though.

the add stack is bugged.(left row)...and its impossible to actually use the stacks the way they are....need some sort of label.

the volume is excellent and the eq bars would look really cool if you use the same kind of animation.

and you dont HAVE to put the bubbles everywhere :P ...instead maybe use text labels like at the top of the website(HOME,PLAYER,SKINS etc.)

and the top right corner of the ML is missing a border

dlink i like the idea behind the skin but the ML, Video, and PL just dont seem to fit right, they seem rushed. With all the circles this skin is also extremely hard to use. But all in all good work.

the problems I had with the ML Video (whcih I just noticed has 2 red lines where there need not be any) and PL were the fact that they stretch. Repeating circles looked really bad imho, so I had to make due. I also think the media library looks like sheit, but it's so....weird to skin I couldn't do much with it, at least not yet.

As for the amount of bubbles, xeno gave me a good idea for the playlist stacks which I am working on, and also a good idea for the buttons on the top of the EQ.

Another thing I am ging to change asap is the coloured borders. I am just going to stick with red all around. The yellow on the ML makes it fuglier than it already is, and all but the video have red, so yea.

As xeno said, you should spend more time on it. All skins benefit from patience and attention to detail. Whatever you do, just don't spend as much time on it as xeno does on his skins!!!

the rightmost stack has got a bug too (half of the the big circle disappears)

When you press a PL stack, it looks a bit rough the way the khaki background jumps onto the grey background of the pledit.txt area. You might consider keeping the grey background grey for that upper section of the stacks. The yellow dots would of course be too hard to see on a grey background, so you could make the dots in those areas red or something.

I agree that the volume looks good. I think the EQ would look cool if the circles all moved around a little bit as you slid the animation. (a subtle variation of this might further improve the volume, too)
