possible bug? - relay source disconnects

hi all,

i've been relaying a popular internet stream to my house to save on bandwidth of multiple users. however, after some random time (minutes to days,) it appears my relay server wil disconnect from the source server. however, there's no indication in the main page, admin page, or log files that the my relay was disconnected.

the result is that the listeners get whatever's in the 2mb buffer of shoutcast. (15 seconds at this bitrate)

i can goto the admin page and kick the source, 30 sec later it will reconnect. however this is a pain. it's been going on for a while but i've just tolerated it.

seems like my relay doesnt know it got disconnected from the source...suggest another workaround? a solution? fixed in the next version?

the box is linux kernel 2.4, sc_serv 1.9.2, athalon 800, 512mb ram, direct-connect to the internet, etcc

here's a snippet from the logfile

Is your machine experiencing connectivity difficulties?

none. none at all.

even if it was, i would expect that the sc_serv relay would recognize this and resync. maybe not?

Have you tried coonecting to the stream with winamp then loading the shoutcast DSP and sourcing your DNAS with winamp ratehr than relaying directly.

yes i have, especially in streams that don't allow relays.
however this defeats the purpose of the 'relay' besides, my relay box is linux & i don't want to have to dedicate another box to decode/encode.

maybe this is a bug? another shoutcaster a while ago suggested i join the mailing list for the more 'advanced' problems & issues related to shoutcast. i tried joining the mailing list the other day but that appears private or cancelled.

Aye.
Some of the documentation is a little old.

i figgerd i'd post what i found, a config problem on my relay.

; AutoDumpSourceTime specifies how long, in seconds, the source stream is
; allowed to be idle before the server disconnects it. 0 will let the source
; stream idle indefinately before disconnecting. The default is 30.
AutoDumpSourceTime=30

i had it set to 0. set it to 30, it automagically reconnects.

while i didn't pose this question to the mailing list, there was talk about a similar issue that led me to check my configuration.

thanks everyone,
