Bandwith Requirement for Internet TV

Hi,

Just a query about the bandwidth requirements for some of the 'Internet TV' channels I'm seeing on the Winamp listings.

Am I correct in assuming that a listing showing, say 100 users, with a bitrate of 320kbps requires 100 x 320 kbps?

So we're talking about at least a 30Mbps line (I'm guessing T3?)

Hi there,

I have a 512/128 to work out my upload I take it I divide 128 by 8 which gives me 16K to stream to 2 people at a 50kb stream =100 divide that by 8 again? = 12.5 which leaves me a little over to play with incase of the connection fluctuation?

Have I got that right?

You won't get anywhere with 12.5/16k video streams. With that connection, you'd probably be stuck with the 2 users at 50k. You can also look into some professional hosts.

MAX USERS FORMULA

Hello,

if i have understood everything this is simple

if you have 128kps in upload.

and you want to stream in 60kbps

then 128/60= +/- 2Max users.

So the Formula is

Upload bandwith (kbps)
MAX USERS = -----------------
Streaming rate (kbps)

of course use the usual mathematical rules to find the Streaming rate for a give Max users.

If there is an error tell me where!
Last thing is there a web page where i can test ma connexion speed?

A+
