Skin Debug Project
yes, this is a development project not a skin. but, its aimed at the modern skining comunity. so, thats why its in here.
i decided to start to write a little application that you give your skin.xml and it parses the xml (even going through the includes) like winamp does. the point in the project is to show you the missing parts, or potential bugs or missing files. general stuff like that. before you load it into winamp and it just crashes. its.. a validator if you will. it currently tells you what WAL version your using with and what version of winamp the skin is compatable with. any missing files in your elements lists recursive groups gonna be adding much more to it.. is there anything you would want it to warn you about? also.. sorry, this does not validate maki, and never will do.... -Bizzy |

this project has been slowed down quite alot since i have just gotten a lot of other work to do, witch pays, so it get priority. this project is coming along. dont worry, i should have a beta for testers sometime soon.

Hey Bizzy, I have an idea:
it would be cool if you made it similar to the debugger in software development kits - you'd put a large memo component under the edit box (used for browsing I think) where the code of the xml file would appear. Then if the debugger found some imperfection in the xml, the user would just double click the line with the error description and in the memo the cursor will jump straight into the line where the error was found. Include a 'Save' button, so that the user would be able to save the editted file directly from this utility. Just a few thoughts, good luck with further development .~qlimo |
