uh ... it is your messenger service.

Go To the control panel > Administrative Tool > Services.
The messenger service has nothing to do with Windows/MSN messenger, so you can disable it.

I have messenger plus, and I have no problem with it. Have you run a check for spyware?? Get Spybot Search&Destroy just to check.

How about we take a screenshot of this pop-up so we're all sure what we're talking about.

And on a side note, you need to stop that service AND set it to not start up with Windows (best to allow it to start up if needed, but not automatically with Windows).

Sounds good to me, except I prefer MyIE2 over Firebird.

For those who have not yet been introduced, meet the Proxomitron: a free, highly flexible, user-configurable, small but very powerful, local HTTP web-filtering proxy. To become better acquainted, please see our online copy of the Proxomitron Help Files for a more comprehensive overview.

Play in the registry. Type in "Remove Messenger" Into a search engine. You can only disable/uninstall this through regedit.
