MusicBrainz and Winamp
I've searched but didn't exactly find a post about it... I've used MusicBrainz (http://www.musicbrainz.org/) to tag all my mp3s, and now when I load them up into the playlist, I get (on some, not all) crazy figures for track length times. It will range from 1 to 20 minutes off from the actual track length time. I've never had this problem until I used MusicBrainz, might be worth the effort into looking how it changes the mp3 file and make the corrections in Winamp.

why should winamp compensate for a broken program? this sounds like a bug in musicbrainz, not in winamp...

Might be, but good programmers try to work around mistakes or other factors concerning their programs. Who's to say that it's MusicBrainz problem? I (haven't tried it yet) could load the music into another media player to see if it could accurately guess the file length. Actually, I'll do that right now.
Edit: Yes, Windows Media Player seems to get it right down to the second. Another observation: while actually playing the file, it seems to find the length just fine. I can scroll accuratly. The playlist entry, however, remains incorrect. |
