winamp 5 loads kind of slow now

i know i know its because of the tons of new features included with it. it seems that winamp isn't as "crisp" as before. It takes 3 times as much time to load as winamp 2. I guess thats what we have to stick with huh

Don't use the modern skin.

Winamp5, with the classic skin, is EXACTLY the same as Winamp2.xx, but with bug fixes.

Don't like winamp 5? then use winamp 2 if you like it better. Heck, use winamp 1.69, it even has a cool name.

Winamp3 didn't support Winamp skins, becouse Winamp3 was a completly different program, not another version of Winamp.

No, just the modern skin, you can load Winamp 5 with regular skins just as fast as the default/classic skin.

Helps if you're not running a 386...

And no, that's not what you have to stick with. No one forced you to download WA5 numnuts, stick with WA2 if it makes you happy.

I'm not sure what got everyone so defensive about your statement/question Harry. Bunch o' thin skinned bastages.

Personally I love the Modern Skin in all it's splendiforosity. It loads quickly enough on my machine, but I would wait 10 times as long if I had to, just to gaze upon it's beauty.

Because it was phrased antagonistically.

No. I see a lack of punctuation. I don't read antagonism in it. Maybe disappointment, maybe frustration but not antagonism.

It was phrased in such a way that forum members were annoyed enough to write thier responces as they did.

You're starting to piss me off. And I really don't get pissed off that easy. How in Christ's name did you interpert THAT from his post? You obviously have something that burns lodged deeply in your ass.

What happened is, one person misinterperted his post, then like lemmings (or retarded sheep), you all followed blindly.

Distill that.

People tend to be respectful towards respectful questions.

Furthermore, this isn't the tech support forum, so that instantly generates annoyance at yet another tech-related question in GD.

A respectful question would have been:

Quote:
While I like the new features in Winamp 5, it's loading slowly compared to Winamp 2 (about three times longer), and it's not as "crisp" as Winamp 2 was. Is there a way around that, or is that just how fast Winamp 5 loads?
Regaurdless, this is all stupid semantics. Commasterharry clarified what he meant in his second post. If we misunderstood, fine.

whoa didn't mean to start anything. it was just a sharing of opinion and i was just seeking some knowlege about loading times. ya i tend to keep my posts brief so forgive me for the semantics. lets be meek. btw i dont post in any other forums cuz this isn't exactly a Tech QUESTION. its kind of like a opinion thread really.

I can't imagine it speeding it up . Try it and see if you notice any difference, it'll probably depend on hown many files you have in the ML and how fragmented/fast your drive is.
