Star Wars Trilogy on DVD

that's right, you heard me, George Lucas has decided to release the Star Wars trilogy (that's A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi) on DVD
odd since he once declared that he would never do this, but i'm not complaining
i just hope that you can choose to watch the ORIGINAL version, not the special edition

the news

yes, i know i'm a nerd
i don't care
i'm happy

I would very much doubt it, old George has said many many many times that the old originals are no longer part of the game plan and the only versions he thinks of as being definative are the special edition versions.

So I'd reckon your chances are somewhere between nill and not at all.

I believe they already have, these "improved" versions have already been seen at various screenings around the US last year, fixing up one or two effects and stuff, nothing major.

The rumor list that did the round on the internet a while back that said he was basically going to re-edit all 3 films again, splicing in new sequences, replacing things like muppet yoda with digital yoda etc etc really made for some funny reading, I'll try dig it up later, maybe it was true, maybe it wasn't...

I thought he was only going to release them out on DVDs after the end of the second trilogy(prequels) were out and over. Isn't there one more?

Cynical cash in maybe?

Release them now, people rush out in their millions to buy them, 18 months down the line he can then release the 'ultimate definate super deluxe 12 disc box set' and fleece you all over again.

Wouldn't be the first time he's done something like that.
