Why is Shoutcast crap for modem users???

just downloaded winamp. nice package.

however, when I tune in to a station it plays about 10 seconds of it, then stops and buffers it, then plays about 10 seconds, then stops again and this carries on and on.

seems useless.

any suggestions???? - apart from getting broadband?

Because streaming takes bandwidth, lots of it. Most streams are meant for broadband users, therefore they will continually buffer on dial-up. You will have to stick with streams of 32kbps or below and don't do anything else with the connection while listening.
