Proxy/College Network Problems?

Hey there,

I have tried everything and could use some help. I am at college trying to broadcast with shoutcast. I am able to get it to work over the college network. People across campus can type in my iport and listen to my broadcasts, but no outside users can listen.

I tried setting the yp port to 666 and ever 800 (which i read about somewhere). Nothing works. The shoutcast site does not recognize me and users from outside the network cannot connect to my ip.

My ip is different from the web than it is on the computer.
When I use ip config...I get one ip address (which is the one that the college kids connect to) and when i search to find my ip on the net I get a totally different one. Is there any way around this. Can I forward ip's somehow or get past the firewall or proxy somehow without actually being able to physically access the proxy. Please help me! Thanks!

Matt

Contact the college network administrators.

They may need to open ports for you.

I contacted them...I will see what they are going to do. If they open the YP Port that I need like 666 or 800, will that work then or do i still have a problem because there are two different ip addresses? Will outside users be able to connect?

Thanks,
Matt

They'll need top open/forward portBase (and portBase+1 if folks outside the network will source the DNAS).

If the yp can't see your station, then neither can folks outside the network.
