Im using winamp 5 right now but i assume its the same for all the winamps..anyways when you load a directory does anyone know how to get rid of the path extension on the playlist...like .mp3 next to a song? its pissing the hell out of me cause it was never there before.

Hmm... perhaps you should do following:
Prefs -> Titles -> check "Read metadata when files are loaded into Winamp..."
If that doesn't work:
Prefs -> Input -> Nullsoft MPEG audio decoder -> look if "Read ID3v1/2..." is checked(if no, do it) and then you can config your own playlist title formatting.

If you choose the second option ("Read metadata when files are played or viewed in playlist"), the file ext. should disappear when you scroll in your playlist so that only all visible files are read out (that means lower CPU/HDD usage).
The fastest option still is to choose the third option - but if you do so, file exts. won't disappear, so you have to choose between speed and correct title formatting...
