How spectrum data is calculated

Good evening,

I was wondering, could anyone tell me the correspondence between spectrum information and frequency in Winamp? I understand that there are 576 samples for each channel, but I don't understand how each sample corresponds to a given frequency, other than that lower indices of the spectrum array correspond to lower frequencies. If someone could tell me the relationship, I'd be greatly appreciative. Thanks a lot.

Hey. I suggest you look up the algorithm Fast Fourier Transformation. I did the exact same thing a few years back. If you want, E-Mail me and I can give you some code, as well. MadManMarkAu@hotmail.com
