could not access shoutcast.com for 3-4 days
a curious outage, and one which i hope one of you long-suffering free tech support people might be able to shed some light on
![]() i'm on the Connect network in sydney. I couldn't access shoutcast.com or winamp.com for 3-4 days until about 15 minutes ago. just a "couldn't connect to server" message in ie6 and mozilla. I thought of and tried a few things (so you can rule them out as the cause): 1. my isp was having dns issues; however, i used another isp's dns server and i also cleared the dns local cache and disabled negative caching, and none of these things fixed the problem 2. i used dig to resolve shoutcast.com with success. pings and traceroutes to shoutcast.com's ip address timed out. 3. i posted messages to forums frequented by people using the same isp as me - a couple of people had the same problem, but not many 4. i tried disabling my firewall, but that didn't work. 5. it has nothing to do with your recent outages, because i *could* access shoutcast.com and winamp.com but only through a free internet proxy (dodgy )has this got something to do with my ip being blacklisted? or is there some other cause for it? i'd sure like to know, because shoutcast is one of my favourite sites and i don't want to inadvertently block access to it again ![]() thankyou for your patience and wisdom in advance! |
