I find it rather amusing, altough I hope that when this is fixed, it will never happen again. I don't like losing all my posts.
I just hope that 'the people behind the forums' think of a better password (or whatever the security flaw was) and backup these threads often.

Maybe it's a flaw in the forum itself. I know about the following vulnerability (Tue 16 March 2004) in these forums [see attachment], but I think it has nothing to do with it.

it's sad that most people haven't mourned Craig's departure. i'm relatively new here, but Craig helped me get acclamated here and helped nudge me towards my current involvement with Winamp.

it's a huge shame he left, considering how much he's contributed.

edit// one time yesterday when i tried to log on, i got a username/password prompt and i tried to log in but nothing happened. i have no idea but i for one am changing my password just in case the hackers were trying to collect login info. i think it would be prudent for everyone else to do the same just to be safe.

Might have been for system administration only, so they could log in and "test" the forums after fixing the problems that allowed the hacker to break in...

"If you try to view the forums and are prompted with a test login please disregard it. This is up there while we try to upgrade the service. You will not be able to get in with you current password. Don't worry. Once the service is returned your old username and password will work just fine."
