My ISP is blocking!!!
Hi everyone,
I'm using a wireless centrino laptop at school and naturally, I like to enjoy Shoutcast streams, but as has been a regular occurance at the university I attend, they enjoy blocking or restricting anything that takes up any ammount of bandwidth. Basicly taking the fun out of connecting to the internet at school. Does anyone have any ideas of a work around? Right now I just get [timed out] when clicking on any of the stations. Everything was fine a week ago though, I suspect they keep seaching for what people are using on the network and ban it. When I use the same laptop at home and connect it via Ethernet to my cable connection the stations work fine. Thanks for any help anyone can provide (or if I'm SOL in the case of a block/ban), Kris

Try looking for streams using port 80 (the default web port).
Else, you're SOL*. * = Unless the school network administrators are swayed by donuts, sex, and/or fluffy puppies. |

if you have a decent home computer on a cable or dsl connection you could install a proxy and connect through that. Just be sure that you secure it up.
