Winamp Pro cant play the last second of some songs =( very unhappy.
Was wondering if anyone has had this problem. It's annoying and making me want to die. I bought winamp pro to rip cd's with no restrictions. I noticed on some of the rips the last second on a few songs repeated itself like it was skipping at the end. I reripped them and the same flaw showed up. I then tried to play the actual cd and the last second of the same songs repeat twice before the song ends. It's so frustrating. My mp3's have to be perfect. Why can't winamp correctly decode and play some songs without the last second being screwed up? I tried it on both of my pc's that are running winxp. Both machines are 3ghz with a gig of ram so its not a hardware issue. Windows Media Player plays the songs flawlessly. The latest cd i noticed it had a problem with was "dave attell - skanks for the memories" its a comedy cd. Lots of the tracks on this cd do it, but i know track 9 does for sure if anyone happens to have the same cd. Also track 5 on "arcwelder - pull" does it. I just don't get it. Why is it only the last second of SOME songs that winamp cant play? =( Anyone have the same problem? Know what I can do? It's gonna keep me from ripping cd's because they are junk if the last second is farked. It makes me sad. Help me god.

I had this problem with MusicMatch a while ago, but I've been successful with Winamp as of far.
What format are you ripping the MP3's in? VBR? What bitrates? [@imho] man [@imho] I had dreams about unit testing last night :-( [@sim`a] i have nightmares about syntax errors, whats your point |

Using this mp3 encoder v1.2 in the encoder options... mode: cbr... bitrate its 192
But the weird thing is that the last seconds arn't only messed up when I rip a track. It's also messed up when I play the track from the cd. So i don't think that would make it an encoder problem. Maybe a decoder problem? Tried the various options for the different output methods (wave out / direct sound / etc...) No luck =/ |

You said the CD plays fine in WMP, correct?
Do the encoded MP3's play fine in WMP? That will prove if it is a decoder problem or not. [@imho] man [@imho] I had dreams about unit testing last night :-( [@sim`a] i have nightmares about syntax errors, whats your point |

Sounds like there might be an issues with the CD its self. Winamp's decoder isn't all too good when it comes to handling errors on CDs. There are some other options though, which involve ripping the track/CD in question with another program.
CDex. In CDex you can turn on error correction. Tools > Options > CD Drive Tab. From there under Ripping method. Select one of the four Paranoia modes. If the error still persists try the next one. Each mode above Standard has a better chance of working around and recovering from errors, but each one takes progressively more time to rip. The encoder options can be set up under the Encoder tab. For more information on CDex here are a couple CDex Tutorials: 1 | 2. And it CDex doesn't do the job there is always EAC which can rip just about anything. |

It definitely isn't the CDs because I'm experiencing the same problem, and suggesting a different program when I already dropped $15 for Winamp Pro isn't exactly a satisfactory solution.

mp3 last second repeat
I have also had the same problem. with every CD that I Rip through winamp on 2 different computers with 4 diferent CD/DVD ROM drives, I get the same results.
Whatever I encode with Winamp get's the last second repeated. It's happened with all of the 5.0x releases. Specs: Both machines are running WinXP SP1 with all the latest updates. 1 computer is a 3 week old fresh install with only the minimal installed programs. The MP3's are ripped at 160kps CBR. Any help would be appreciated |

Your CD drive or CD is defective.

Disable the Sonic Engine (Prefs > CD Ripping > Ripping tab)
and use wnaspi32.dll instead. |

But: Do I have any disadvantage not using the sonic engine? And with WIN XP Home: It just seems to work. Do I need to use the wnaspi32.dll (better sound) etc.? Again: Thanks, I was really beginning to get desperate! It's because of all the hi expectations when using Winamp. It looks cool (Lounge skin), it works smooth (I love the fader when searching through a song. So pro!) and ... then there's this "last note echo". You think "OH NO! I can't believe this is happening." Greetings, Hajo |
