Internet Connection Through a Router

As a heads-up, I've already read through the sticky topics and tried those, but I've still not been able to fix it.

Anywho...

I'm on a three-computer network with a Comcast connection. When I broadcast, I usually unplug the network from the modem and plug myself straight into the modem, and can broadcast fine. I've done this for about four or five months now.

There's a lot more use of the network as of late, so I'm finding it hard to kick everyone else off of the network. I figured I'd just set my router to port-forward to my computer and it would be fine. Unfortunately, after reading through quite a few topics and trying everything that was suggested, I've not been able to get it port-forward.

I can connect to my stream by typing in my network IP, but if I try my modem's IP that my friends would connect to, I'm unable to connect.

Any advice?

Oh, and I'm running on a cheap, crappy Microsoft router until I can pick myself up a Linksys.

Thanks, but I've tried that and it refuses to work. It only allows me to broadcast across my network, not through my router to the internet.

I am having this exact same problem, so obviously we're not the only ones.

It's a real pain in the ass, isn't it?

There is no link to my stream; I've sent it to my friends, and various other people and none have been able to connect. And when I put "myip:8000" in my browser, it doesn't bring up the usual Shoutcast D.N.A.S. stat page.

That's what I told everyone to connect to when I was plugged into the router.

And my DNAS looked fine when I was in the router.

Edit: I'm plugged into my router now.
