radio disconnecting

Hi,
My server works perfectly fine and absolutely everything is transmitted and it never disconnects here, on my computer. But when I listen to my radio from other computers it always plays for a few seconds of few minutes and disconnects. If I reconnect, then it will disconnect a few seconds/minutes later. What is going on here? It is driving everyone mad and discouraging from listening. Please help

Does the DNAS have enough upload bandwidth to support the number of connected listeners?

It happens even when there's only one listener. It surely must have enough bandwidth for at least that one.

Aloha!

Check out the SHOUTcast Technical Support Sticky post titled:
SHOUTcast: Important Info & Answers to FAQs. READ ME!

Scroll down a bit and look for the section titled:
1. DNAS Stuff -> Bandwidth -> DSLReports Bandwidth tester(Only be concerned with the UPLOAD bandwidth)
2. DNAS Stuff -> Bandwidth -> CasterClub's Listener Calculator
3. DNAS Stuff -> Bandwidth -> CasterClub's Bandwidth Calculator

Use 1 to find your upload.
Use 2 to determine the number of listeners you can support at your selected streaming bitrate.

Jay (KXRM) also has a Bandwidth Calculator.

Hi,
the test showed that I have 115 kb upload. How do I know what to put for available bandwidth in that calculator you gave me a link to? I know these are stupid questions, but got to learn from somewhere Thanks a lot for help. I also called my internet company to upgrade to their fastest internet. Will that change anything? Can I do anything else to stop that buffering and disconnecting from happening?

What bitrate are you trying to use for the stream?

I'm trying to use 80kbps Mono for streaming and the speed test shows me 115kb upload speed. Does it seem right that I can only support 1 listener? How can I increase that???

80 < 115

To support more listeners, you'll need to either get more bandwidth or use Third party DNAS hosting

Ok Thanks for the info. I might do that one day, ultimately. But since you said my bandwidth is good for my streaming rate (and in fact I just upgraded to 256 upload and still use 80 for streaming). Then why is my radio still buffering and disconnecting after a certain amount of time listening to it? We managed to concur that my DNAS has enough bandwidth. So what's wrong?

Ok, I have enough bandwidth for at least 29 people and it keeps disconnecting with even one person listening; Sometimes quite often and making it quite annoying. What is going on? How can I fix this?

I've been listening for about ten minutes, and I've had no problems aside from the slight distortion.

please do that (or at least keep it connected) for a little longer. It is fine for the first ten minutes if only one person listens, then it disconnects between 10-20 minutes and once it disconnects once, it does that more and more often afterwards. I was listening to it yesterday at a friend's house for 15 minutes, then it disconnected, and then it kept doing it quite often.

Indeed, I was eventually disconnected. Do you have the ListenerTime option enabled in your DNAS config?

Hi, I changed my ListenerTime option to a really huge number and it is still disconecting after a few minutes of listening (5-15 minutes). Nothing fixed the problem so far. What else could be wrong?
