Winamp Error = Shutting Down

Sometimes I get an error that states that an error in winamp has occured and that it needs to shut down... why does this keep happeninging to me? I'm sorry if some one else has posted with this problem, but I couldn't find it in the list of currently known bugs and the search didn't render me anything on the topic. Thank you for your time.

Alas, you've not given us much to go on.... (system specs, windows os, winamp version, any 3rd-party plugins, filetypes played, details of error message, etc)

Try this

winamp encountering error

"Winamp has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." That's all the error says. My operating system for Windows is XP. I use the lastest version of Winamp, having downloaded it just three days ago right after I restored my computer. After I recieve this message Winamp then closes. I play .mp3 files in Winamp, or at least I try to play them in Winamp. I hope this gives you a little better idea of my problem... thanks for your time.

So, did you install the wa5update patch from that link I provided? And does the error still occur?

Right, well you can start by providing some more information:

Systems specs (cpu, ram, soundcard, windows os, directx)
Winamp version, plus confirmation of a clean install with no 3rd-party plugins.
Full details of the error message (there should be a link which says "to view the details, click here")
ie. we need to know the module causing the crash.
File Types being played when the crash occurred (mp3, wma, ogg, etc)
Which skin you are using (eg. default modern or classic, or 3rd-party modern skin).

We simply cannot help without knowing this.
