Relaying Questions
H-Eh fellow 'casters!
Finally, after all of this time, I purchased some shoutcast hosting. So now I just have a question. I will still be using my old slots running from my machine, is there any way that if someone connects to my old server, can it automatically direct them to my new one. I am already relaying it so if my new server is full, it can send them over to my old one. So is it possible to automically send them over? Thanks |

It should automatically try to send them to a relay in the event that the server they tried to connect to is full. Check the logs for something about a backup server.

I see Backup file, do i have to stick in my backup address there? Would that achive it? I know that if 1 server is full it will redirect it, but even if it isn't can I make it automatically redirect it anyways?

This is not an option that you configure in sc_serv*****sc_serv.conf but something that appears in the DNAS log. If both servers are listed in the SHOUTcast yp then the yp will send each server the address of a relay to send listeners to in the event a listener tries to tune in and that server is full. If you look in the log it shows up as backup server. Check the logs and see if it's there.

Hmmm.. it doesn't seem to be in my log file.
Now if I only allow one stream to be public, and the other private, does it still relay listeners? Thanks for your help BTW. |

Yes, both need to be set to public for this feature to work.

Hello, sorry, another quick question.
which server must I relay? Server A is not Relaying Server B is relaying, but is not transferring my listeners when it is full. also, I want Server A to be my primary and Server B to be my backup, how is this possible I know this probibly sounds screwed but if you could help me out, it would mean alot. Thanks |
