The best thing to do in your case is to start a new thread. Give as much information as possible about your problem (describe exactly what happens and when), provide system specs and attach a HijackThis log to your post.

*NEW SOLUTION*

I was getting this and afer a lot of digging discovered that the DSP/Effect TomSteady AGC (DSP/Effect) plugin was set to level the desired volume to 0!

It seems this wasn't being reset with a re-install....

TomSteady is a 3rd-party plugin which is not included with the default Winamp distro, and (like all 3rd-party plugins) is not supported here.

If you have a similar problem, then please start a new thread.

mp3university.com is no more (yay), though it's highly possible that there's other variants or similar malware that also produce the same ill effect.

Be sure to include your HJT log.
(and make sure it's v1.99.1 and it's not running from the desktop or a temp folder)
