Seagate fights Hitachi with 5GB Microdrive
http://www.dpreview.com/news/0406/04...agate5gbmd.asp
This 5GB CF type II card can't be called a microdrive, but that's that it is. This unit is 1GB larger than Hitachi's version of this drive. |

I'm weary of that thing....
Segate drives have been degraded in the "Quality Product" department as of late.... |

Hoepfully it won't cost $400 - $500 like Hitachi's overpriced microdrive.

If you have a digital camera I recommend using SanDisk "Extreme" series. If I remember correctly, it has a 9MB/s write speed and a 10MB/s read. That's pretty quick, the Hitachi drive has a 7MB/s sustained write.
Plus, the drives have moving parts that are prone to mechanical failure. That makes them more durable. |
