Straight outta there
took this STRAIGHT out of a tech forum....maybe some winampions can help meh
![]() my specs: 2.4GHz intel 800fsb ASUS p4s800 nvidia geforce fx5900 512 ddram winxp 80gig hd i'm very convinced i have some kind of spyware/adware/virus on my system. the following are the symptoms: 1. explorer.exe uses at least 80 megs of ram, sometimes as high as 110 (according to task manager). in addition, cpu usage is normal, at 0-4% 2. AOL instant Messenger takes up around the same amount of ram, around 80 or so, and refuses to connect often. 3. until recently, my computer has been running smoothly with a max utilization of ram of ~300 all my drivers are updated and new, there is no device manager errors or exclamation marks i've ran norton04, spysweeper, ad-aware, defragmenter, scandisk, everything i could think of to diagnose the problem. i've also unchecked my msconfig startup tab of useless apps running in the background, so be assured there is no unwanted running process (at least not shown). i also ended explorer.exe and started it back up, restarted my system i saved the log from hijackthis.exe if it helps in any way Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\TGTSoft\StyleXP\StyleXPService.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Executive Software\DiskeeperWorkstation\DKService.exe E:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\AdvTools\NPROTECT.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\nvsvc32.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\EVOLOSTA.exe C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_04\bin\jusched.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\CTHELPER.EXE C:\Program Files\WCAT\wcat.exe C:\Program Files\TGTSoft\StyleXP\StyleXP.exe C:\Program Files\Global Audio Control\Global Audio Control.exe E:\Program Files\AIM\aim.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe E:\Softwares\HijackThis.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings,ProxyOverride = localhost;127.0.0.1;<local> R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = about:blank O2 - BHO: (no name) - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - E:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dll O2 - BHO: (no name) - {AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7} - c:\program files\google\googletoolbar2.dll O2 - BHO: (no name) - {BDF3E430-B101-42AD-A544-FADC6B084872} - E:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll O3 - Toolbar: Norton AntiVirus - {42CDD1BF-3FFB-4238-8AD1-7859DF00B1D6} - E:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll O3 - Toolbar: &Radio - {8E718888-423F-11D2-876E-00A0C9082467} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\msdxm.ocx O3 - Toolbar: &Google - {2318C2B1-4965-11d4-9B18-009027A5CD4F} - c:\program files\google\googletoolbar2.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccApp] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [EVOLOSTA.exe] EVOLOSTA.exe START O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_04\bin\jusched.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvCplDaemon] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [nwiz] nwiz.exe /install O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvMediaCenter] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\NvMcTray.dll,NvTaskbarInit O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WINDVDPatch] CTHELPER.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UpdReg] C:\WINDOWS\UpdReg.EXE O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [WatchCat] C:\Program Files\WCAT\wcat.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [STYLEXP] C:\Program Files\TGTSoft\StyleXP\StyleXP.exe -Hide O4 - Global Startup: Global Audio Control.lnk = ?
