Will this skin be legal?

I'm going to add all the missing stuff (from Winamp 2.9/5.0 point of view) to the original WinAMP 1.x skin. Since the work will be heavily based on default 1.x/2.x/2.9 skins, I'm afraid of being accused for skin ripping.
Is it ok to submit such skin into Winamp skins catalog?

as long as you give credit to the origonal author, and dont claim too much glory, no-one will care.

There is going to be a Nullsoft version of the winamp 1.0 skin that emulates the original interface down to the last function, including the crappy eq and playlist, that should be finished shortly.

So it will be a modern skin, right?

My intention was to create a classic skin showing how Winamp would look like if the default skin haven't been remastered at least twice:

That oughta be interesting.

Actually, that reminds me. I used to have a Winamp 2.x version of the Winamp 3 skin that I loved so very very much. I don't know who made it, but I rather stupidly didn't save it when I reformatted my hard drive... has anyone seen that floating around, by chance? I've looked all over the Winamp site and couldn't find it anywhere.

Actually, I did use the search function, and that didn't come up at all. Which is when I started manually looking around for it.

Yes, sometimes search can bring back no results, and yet an hour later it'd find it right off the mark.

I think there is a dodgy download server in among the cluster that serves up the skins for the site, and occasionally it comes into rotation, leading to all kinds of wierd things happening, ever seen the "latest skins" show up with no screen shots or broken download links, or skins you know are published only to be not available anywhere on the site.

Same thing, dodgy server, blame AOL

I created an account for my e-mail, but didn't receive any password. Tried "forgetting" the password and again - not any mail. The same for my second e-mail. Is the account system broken?

It's of the same color <198,206,206> as Nullsoft's original play/pause/stop buttons.

BUT:

the buttons sometimes gets messed up like this:

Did you see the same thing? I think it's Winamp bug.
It happens randomly in all classic skins, both in 2.91 and 5.03a

I have a few other issues. exactly which version is this based from? it shares features with several versions from 1.5 or so to 1.66

Main window is taken from 1.92 and should be pixel-exact with the original version. The rest is recolored or redrawn 2.81 and 2.91 skin. Playlist buttons are 2.00 style (+FILE, -FILE etc).

The skin should be compatible with 2.x, 2.9x and 5.x (minibrowser/vis/library differences)

how about switching the buttons to the colors of the 0.9 series? the'd make the skin look more unique. I know its wouldnt be as true a port then, but what the hell..

EQ sliders have 2 lines, other sliders have 3...

That's how it always is... including the current Classic skin. It's because the EQ sliders are smaller.
