Best Encoder limit For 24k Server?

I am running a 24k server, what would be the perfect kbps to encode an mp3 to so it comes over as best it can on a 24k server?

I know a 24k server is not a very good one but we all have to start somewhere.

I've noticed no real difference in how the mp3 is encoded. All of my mp3's are encoded at 192kbps, and I run my 24k server at 22khz mono and it sounds decent.

Indeed you can use pretty much any setting. I sue 128k 44 Khz which is a perfect quality for streaming.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Just one more thing.

On the DSP plugin on the encoder tab. I increased the encoder setting from 24k 22.050kHz Mono to 96k 44.100kHz Mono and did a little test and the people who tested the stream by listening said the sound quality had improved.

If I push the Encoder Setting up too high will it effect people tuning in?

Definitely. If you are using your home connection, you can probably hold 2 or 3 listeners at 96k.

umm, then you dont want to stream @ 96k to it, that will get you dropped. You must PAY for 96k slots to stream @ 94k

I believe that its all in the EQ. All of my files are 128k and i was told that my stream "was as good as a 24k can get" (http://www.webcasteru.com/review_station_ruff_dawg.php)
