Classic Modern Skin
Hi guys!
I've tried to make my own skin but i can't figure that out - maybe i am to stupid - hm. I've read that the normal users (like me) are allowed to request skins. So here's my idea: I like the standard clssic skin very much. It's easy to use and it has a startupspeed - amazing. The problem is that it has some abridgements. As you will see at this example: The modern skin has the "reapeat once" function - the classic skin hasn't. The modern skin has a Media Library button - the classic skin hasn't. Now mix the two skins - the classic skin as usual but with modern skin functions. With ML button and so on. Well - as I said i couldn't figure out how this works - and now I need your help. greets mFelix |

You can make the classic skin use the Lightning bolt to open the media library, it's somewhere in the preferences, I forget exactly where, don't have a copy of winamp on this machine to tell you, might be
CTRL+P > Preferences > Media Library > Library Options Tab > "Main window lightning bolt opens library instead of about box" Classic skin can also do repeat once if you right click on the repeat button and select it from the pop up menu. (hmmm, that might be a upcoming 5.04 feature) Next question? |

thats right of course - but if it would be possible to add those small things INTO the skin it would be easier to use.
just the modern skin with classic layout. |

Well no, if you made a modern skin using the classic skin layout, then it would still have the same CPU overhead usage as most modern skins, it'd still be made up of XML files, maki files and PNG files. Believe me, I've made a version of the winamp 1.x base skin for winamp5, and it uses just as much CPU as any other modern skin.
If you added those features into the default classic skin, then you would break 1000 upon 1000 of existing classic skins that are out there that wouldn't have a "ml button" or "3 state" repeat button, why else do you think those features have been integrated in the way that they have now?, so backwards compatability isn't broken with existing skin. Think. |

You could ask someone (don't ask me who) to make a simple modern skin and let people edit the images.
