I don't know about this one. Spielberg making a movie meant for kids doesn't seem to work so much in my mind. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.

What's with all these anime and cartoon movies getting live action remakes? The highest expectation I've come across the Transformers franchisé was the CG-animated Beast Wars, which was pretty damn awsome...
How in the hell are they gonna pull this one off... "I just want to lie in my own crusty filth, eating rancid egg sandwiches, until some unfortunate paramedic has to blow down my door to find my bloated and pasty corpse wedged between the nightstand and mattress stained with Bengay and Robitussin DM." - Greg Gutfeld on sex and seniors "Syphilis does not stay in Vegas. Debt collectors do not stay in Vegas. Dead hookers stay in Vegas, but the guilt stays with you forever." - Bill Schultz |

I prefer the Beast Machines style
I'd like to see this movie, although will have the Spielberg touch... We have to wait and see...

I believe I just shat myself.
First off . . . . Transformers Movie = awesome. The original animated one is still a pleasure to watch. So regardless of how crappy they could make it (I don't even watch the new cartoons) Its always going to be a blast watching big robots shoot guns & fight & of course transform. And the big kicker, is Spielberg's planning on directing . . . ? I'm just completely baffled. Well, come to think of it, I bet he's pretty excited to this sort of flick. He's handled just about every other genre except for comic-book movies (yeah yeah, not exactly a comic-book persay, but the same elements are present villians/heroes, special power). As for saying he's not a good kid's director, that's completely backwards. He directed the best kid's movie of all time: The Goonies. But . . . . the Transformers? Something about Speilberg & Optimus just don't mix. . . . . is anyone else thinking of that scene in Family Guy where Optimus rolls into temple? Does this mean the Eva flick & the Transformers flick will be out in the same summer? |

This sounds kinda dubious. Transformers was cool, and I remember watching it when I was growing up. But making it into a live action movie doesn't seem to be a great idea.

Live action? I would think that there would need to be enough CG that the term "live action" couldn't really be applied anymore.
Anyway, this sounds like it could be a horrible disaster, but it doesn't really matter because the studio will make a crap-ton of a money because everyone who watched the original show will go to see this. But who knows, it could be awesome as well. I, for one, will probably see it when it comes out. |

If anyone can pull it off, it's Spielberg.
Kudos to Jonathon Frakes for giving the Thunderbirds movie the same visual tone as the original. |
