Surprise! new skin

A company (www.TemplateMonster.com) approached me last week or so and asked me to make a skin for them, and I agreed. I've almost finished it, and I'd like for someone to bug-test it if possible

They need the skin soon, so I basically need to finish it in the next few hours, as I won't have time in the next several days to work on it. So if someone has the chance to bug-test it soon, that would be terrific

All windows are skinned except for VIDEO and cursors (both of which I'm going to be working on now).

Suggestions regarding aesthetics and/or usability are welcome, but keep them straightforward, as I plan to complete the skin very soon

Amazing design stillwater. I like the volume bar alot, and the colors go together well. Can't find any bugs, good work on it.

i like those fading playlist squares alot!...really nice effect.

everything looks great and it stays true to the site fairly well.

only little annoyance is how the red "flap" in the playlist titlebar middle touches the blue border.....i would lower it so it has a few lines of white in between the red and blue. notice how the red doesnt touch the blue anywhere else in the skin?...

Well, this between a couple and a few hours later, so I hope I made it . . .

First of all, it looks bug free to me. Second of all, I think it looks great; I can't see why the website wouldn't be happy with it. Both usability and aesthetic are excellent. I remain everjealous of your balances and volumes.

Some suggestions: I'm not too keen on the min/max buttons turning red when selected. Nothing on the site really does that - mouseovers and selections usually turn lighter or darker blue and personally, I think it looks better than the red inside those buttons.

The title font in the unhighlighted media window (dark red font against the red background) is a bit tough to read.

You can put this right in the "not at all straightforward and most likely very time consuming category", but it would be nice to see the vis background in the Main expanded a bit so it can "curl" like the titles in the Eq, Playlist and Library. I just think it would pull the skin together that much more.

This kinda looks like a big deal. Good luck with it.

I like! Only thing that bugs me is the asymmetry of the open button arrows even though its in the middle of the skin. I like the playlist menus, very cool

I sent the skin off before NIS's post, so the only suggestion I had a chance to use was xeno's playlist one, which I used. Though I may update the skin, depending on how much they like this version.

And bummer! Just minutes after I sent it, I found a bug. It's a tiny one, but one that I think does detract from the skin's usability, if only by a tiny bit: the colon in the PL time display is missing. I don't know what's more annoying: the fact that it's a mere two forgotten pixels, the fact that I noticed it minutes after sending, or the fact that I forget that damn colon with almost every skin I complete


I doubt anyone cares, but I said on a different thread recently that I only had one more winamp skin to make before I hung up my winamp skinning boots for good (which is no longer true anyway, due to the Nostalgia contest). The TemplateMonster.com skin, however, was not the one that I meant. I've recently been working on another skin, which I aim to finish before the boots get hung up as well. I'll post a screenshot in case anyone has any feedback about it.

to help the "depth" look you could make the whole main window darker than the eq to make it look like it goes "in"

I always forget that colon too. I don't think it's a huge deal, 'cause the colon is there in both the Main and Playlist winshade modes, so no matter how the skin is displayed, you'll always have one window with coloned time. But isn't fun to wildly obsess about the little things?

The new skin looks superkeen. I love the Main and the whole funky (simple and clean!) control panel look. I've tried getting a similar depth effect on a skin with zero success. So kudos. This skin strikes me as suitable for a million different colour versions. (Think about it. Please.)

Only suggestion at this point. Back off a bit on the gel highlights. They need a bit more transparency for a more natural look.

Skin looks good, maybe consider giving it a titlebar that sticks out more to heighten the illusion of depth.

I just downloaded from winamp site. I found bug(maybe).
Tested with wa5.04, color of inside library is something wrong.
You should fill the color of white divider of pixel row into background color(light blue).

I've attached a screenshot of how it looks on mine. Almost everything is different on yours - even the buttons, which are BMP. Are the buttons different simply because of the GIF screenshot? Or are they actually yellowish on your computer?

I don't know why the background is black on yours. Does it really happen only on my skin?

Don't mind about the buttons, it's cause of gif format.

I edited the background color of genex.bmp, problem was solved.
Everyone in this thread haven't pointed out this problem, so this maybe my system's problem. I will try full uninstall and reinstall with no 3rd party plugins later, and will check it again.

P.S. Do you understand my broken English? I'm really worried about that.

When you say nothing changed, do you mean you had the same problem as before, or nothing bad happened to the skin this time?

Anyway, I'm really liking this skin StillWater. I use it all the time now, and I like the new cursors. Very cool.

when I edited background color of genex.bmp, problem is solved.

I saw the preview of your template monster skin at 1K1WS and (i couldt test the bugs but) It looked so smooth and easy to use... I think it's a great website skin...

Well...about the copernic one...It's colours are the same as in the plastik one?no complains about it...

I seem to have the same black Library background problem. Buttons are the same tho.
