playlist to live (changing modes with multiple streams)
im not sure what i need, so thats why im here
![]() i have 3 shoutcast servers (one one linux box) that play mp3s in 3 different bitrate formats 128k 64k 24k this is setup perfectly. however i would like to do more, is it possible to set it up to be able to do a live show (remotely - not on the same box as the shoutcast server DANS) when i want, without having to connect to all 3 shoutcast servers? im not sure what this would be called, but im pretty sure its not relaying. any help in setting this up would be greatly appreciated. chelle **edit** i have found this post extremely useful: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....=playlist+live however it still doesnt answer the connect to one server and stream through three |

I think the word you might be looking for is transcoding. That is if I understand you correctly. Basically you send your broadcast to the 128kbps stream then this program (streamTranscoder http://www.oddsock.org/tools/streamTranscoder/ ) tune’s in to that 128kbps stream then it converts it to a lower bit rate and broadcasts it on a 2nd server and you could also setup a 2nd streamTranscoder and send a lower bit rate to a 3rd server. They have a nice little picture on oddsock’s website that helps explain it http://www.oddsock.org/images/diagram1.jpg

this works, however it doesnt appear to support 3 different bitrates at once?
i want to stream the same thing over the different bitrates, like an extra encoder at the server level not clientside. |

ok, so ive figured out a way to do it, however it would be cool if title updates happened regularly not just when the streamTranscoder connects
are there any other programs like this? |

The DSP supports up to five outputs. Use 3 different outputs, each of them using a different encoder set to different bitrates.
You will be connecting "connect to all 3 shoutcast servers," but it will be off of one program instead of 3 instances of the DSP. -- Michael |
