Do you watch commentaries on your DVDs?
I started to go through my collection of DVDs and listen to the provided commentaries. Turned out to be quite interesting. The funniest commentary I've seen so far was on the Star Trek 4 Special Edition DVD, which contains a commentary with Leonard Nimoy (who directed the movie) and William Shatner (who didn't). The commentary on the Devil's Advocate DVD was quite interesting as well.
Now, do you watch your DVDs with enabled commentary from time to time or don't you like commentaries? I've listened occasionaly to audio commentaries, particulary if the film is of great interest, best ones I've heard have been Ghostbuster, very amusing and the original Dawn of the dead which has an hillarious commentary on it by Tom Savini and (if I remember correctly) George Romero, it starts out with "hi this is Tom Savini, and were here in full zombie makeup to talk to you about dawn of the dead" , it slides down hill into hilarious talk on how to make zombie heads explode and so on and so forth

I bought the futurama box set, and listening to groaning and a couple of other guys just hanging out and talking about the episodes is quite entertaining

I personally love listening to commentaries. It's fun to hear what the directors and the actors have to say about the filming. It has to be a good commentary though. I've turned off many commentaries after the first five minutes.
My favorite commentaries: Fight Club - all four (evidently, I have that much free time) commentaries are good. Pirates of the Caribbean - I love this movie. Cannibal the Musical - take shots with the cast and it's even better. |

Like Mr Jones, I'll listen to the commentary if this is a film I truly love and have been wanting for long to know the crannies and nooks of what happened during the shooting, but that hardly ever happens. Plus, even if it does, listening to it once is generally enough.
And generally, I don't care for bonuses either. |

I love commentaries. I guess that is because I want to make movies myself and so it is the next best thing.
P.S. I have just recently seen Godfather part I and II. I listned to the commentary for II and to be honest, I still don't really get either film-- that is what was all the fuss about? They really weren't extrodinary moives, and Pachino didn't do a job worth mentioning untill 2, although the scene where he kills the guy in the restraunt in 1 is good. |

I've only watched a few.
Donnie Darko Boondock Saints Family Guy Season 1-3 I only watch ones that I think will be funny or will give me more insight into the movie. Its kinda fun to see if the directors/actors make the same comments that you do while watching the movies. |
