n00b with broadcasting and ShoutCast needs help.
Hi everyone,
I was searching from Shoutcast technical support about how to setup my system for broadcasting. I downloaded the plug in, and the server .gui. Problems/Questions :1) Server configuration file is EMPTY, should have any set of instructions written there to change them? 2) I'm behind a router, my I.P. address is 192.168.24.1 and my internet I.P. is 80.5.94.4 and my system OS is windows98. I will find out how to give access to the 8000 port through my router setup tomorrow. But problem is that i had the address setup on the plug in as it was "localhost", a friend of mine tried to connect and on the first time an error msg came up on his side "Server Not Found". I thought it must be because i haven't give access to the port through my router yet. Then i changed the address from the plug in to my local I.P. address and then my m8 couldn't find the server at all. Question here is what should i fill up on the address field? 3) Question: can anyone give me steps about what i should do to make it work ok and broadcast normally? after browsing to all those threads here and at shoutcast forums i got bit confused with the whole thing... My housemate could listen me but that was within the network neighberhood... could not make it broadcast outside the network, i assume thats because of the router blocking that port BUT, since i changed the localhost from plug-in properties, my other friend who tried to connect couldn't and the error msgs where different when i changed the "address" on the plug-in. Thanks for any help to the n00b Cheers, Byron P.S.: i'm also getting some errors on server tab: <09/30/04@01:32:31> [source] listening for connection on port 8001 <09/30/04@01:32:38> [source] connected from 127.0.0.1 <09/30/04@01:32:39> [source] icy-name:Testing My station ; icy-genre:Trance<09/30/04@01:32:39> [source] icy-pub:1 ; icy-br:48 ; icy-url:http://www.shoutcast.com <09/30/04@01:32:39> [source] icy-irc:#shoutcast ; icy-icq:0 ; icy-aim:N/A <09/30/04@01:32:39> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (nak) <09/30/04@01:32:39> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Cannot see your station/computer (IP: 80.3.64.5:8000) from the Internet, disable Internet Sharing/NAT/firewall/ISP cache (Connection refused)) <09/30/04@01:37:41> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (nak) Now i know that that could be because i haven't give access to the port through the router but thought to post it in case someone can get some feedback from it. |

1. See attached file. Change the .txt to .ini
2. Forward the port through your router. Look up how to do this by either searching the forums for your router's make/model or seeing the site/FAQ/manual. If the SHOUTcast DNAS (server) and DSP/WinAmp combo are on the same machine, put localhost into the address box in the DSP. ************* Quote:
