USB Mic Problem

Hey guys,

I've hunted and trawled throught the FAQs and related topics - maybe my answer is already out there but I can't find it ... !

I can't get my Logitech USB microphone to work. I have either no sound output at all or just the mic (when the 'on' switch is depressed). Do USB mic's work with ShoutCast or do I need a regular 'jack' mic ??

I am pretty sure my 'mixer' settings are correct. I have both 'playback' and 'record' using my onboard (realtek AC97 - motherboard) sound as the 'device' and I'm using the 'Stereo Mix' as my 'selected' source.

Some advice would be greatly appreciated - I've spent what seems like an age now trying to get this to work !!

My ShoutCast Source is v. 1.8.2b

Thanks in advance.

If I'm not mistaken I think you might want to select Microphone as the input source on the 'record' side of the mixer. I would also just for testing unmute the microphone in the 'playback' side of the mixer to make sure it is working properly.

Thanks for the reply MegaRock.

Tried your advice but it still doesn't work ...

Basically, all that is broadcast is the mic - no music at all, no matter what 'source' is used. I was using 'Stereo Mix' in the 'record' side of the mixer as the FAQ said to do.

Once the switch on the mic itself is depressed, the mic kicks in and won't be switched-off or volume lowered by using the fader on the playback mixer / checking the 'mute' box.

Really frustrating this one !! My using a USB mic is ok then and won't affect things ??

The mic is working but can only be switched-on and off again by using the button that is actually on it. When in the 'soundcard input' mode I cannot hear any of the music that is being played in WinAmp.

Any advice will be muchly appreciated !!

Thanks again.

Thanks for the reply vchat20.

I think that may be the problem too. I have gone through loads of stickys on this and plenty of people seem to have had/thought that they had problems using a USB mic. I couldn't find a definte yes or no on this though ...

Still trying to get it to work !!

It was the USB mic to blame ... !!

I bought a regular 'jack' mic, followed the FAQ as before and everything works fine.

Thanks for the replies anyway !!
