I am bout to get winamp pro. When I encode my music to mp3 format, about how many songs will I be able to burn to a cd? My friend is able to have like 100 songs on a disc, will I be able to do that?

well you know that winamp doesnt support data cds...that means winamp doesnt support burning mp3 cds.
...but it depends on the quality of the mp3...for example, i have most of my mp3s @ 128kbit...thats about 180 songs give or take 10. Your friend was prob using 160 or 192..or higher. [edit]Check out Ahead Nero. Its great for making mp3 cds. However...you should still use winamp. it is very useful for making playlists for mp3 cds. along with the gen yar plugin. after you have made your playlist you can copy all of the files to a new location (much easier than tediously finding 180 songs in separate folders). It also gives you an option to number your songs. whenever you burn data cds (mp3) it will sort acording to filename...if you do want the 180 songs in a certain order you must rename each file...this plugin does it for you.[/edit] |

If you use Windows XP, it's as easy as dragging the MP3 files to an empty CD-R or CD-RW window, then selecting the "Write these files to CD" link at the upper left, under the menu bar. No additional software required.
After you select that link, the system will ask whether you want to burn an audio CD or a data CD. Select "data CD". This will make Windows write the MP3s in their current state to the disc. If you select "audio CD", it'll decompress them all, then burn them as native CD-Audio. A data CD can hold over 100 songs. An audio CD can only hold 10-30, depending on average track length. Just for reference, what you buy at the music store are audio CDs. I'm a psychosomatic sister running around without a leash. |

Thanks! I was trying to write the mp3s as a audio cd, that's why it wasn't giving me a lot of songs on the disk
