Streaming from a managed server
Hi guys,
I am trying to do something that I do not think anyone here has done (searched the forum, did not find anything) I will be buying a managed server soon, in which one can run their own applications, there I will: 1. Install winamp + shoutcast DSP 2. Upload all files for streaming with directory structure etc 3. Have accounts for each DJ to log into my server with limited options and run their radio from there without any interruptions such as kicking the source etc... 4. Each DJ will have their account info, they will login, start DJing and then when off can just load the on demand/already made playlist which will play songs after another until next DJ logs on. Possible? ![]() Or any better solutions I am not aware of? Problem is, most of my DJ's don't have all the collection of songs that will be uploaded by myself to the server (big collection), therefore download option will be off, "read only" files for them to stream only. What you guys say? |

If you're switching from a DJ streaming to an on-demand playlist you will have interruptions in the stream as you cannot switch listeners between the two without dropping them.
As I've said in the past I use SAM Broadcaster and PAL scripts. DJ's use the normal setup (Winamp/DSP) and stream to a specially setup DNAS on my servers. My SAM then, using a PAL script, connects to the server at the predetermined time and disconnects at the ending time. This eliminates the need for password, accounts nor giving the least bit of access into any of my servers. It only takes one person to click the wrong thing to bring your entire station to the ground and destroy months of hard work yet it gives the perfect setup for live broadcasting my multiple DJ's. All the have to do is the general basics so it's easy for them and it's easy for me as well. When it kicks into live mode it will fade out the current song (I always insert an instrumental before the start of the show) and fade automatically to the live stream. At the end it fades out and right back into the playlist with no interruption at all. You never lose listeners, never drop a single connection and give no access to anyone other than a single private DNAS. If for any reason a DJ does not have their server up at the time of the show start they lose their slot and it goes back into auto rotation so they are either reliable or not there. 1001.
