Help, new user, can't connect!

I downloaded winamp, the dsp and shoutcast server. I followed every step on how to change the password and enter in all the info for IP address and port, but it still won't connect when I click the button. I've tried typing in both my IP address and "localhost", tried different port numbers (either 80 or 8000 usually), and different passwords that I put in the configuration. The only thing I think might be wrong is the way I am editing the configuration...do I just replace "changeme" with my own password and nothing else? Or do I also change the "adminpass?" Maybe I am also missing something else to edit. I am not too familiar with HTML and I may be missing something miniscule but important in the editing. Please help!
