Trouble Broadcasting out of School Network

Hey guys, time to put your thinking caps on. I am broadcasting from inside a College network, how come people outside of the school network can't connect to my shoutcast server? I am using ports 8000,8001. . . are there any known ports that will allow people out of the network connect to me? how do i check what ports are open? I assume the firewall is blocking them, but people can get in when playing games and could connect when i broadcast WM encoder programs. So, what do you all suggest? Thanks.
