Anyone using Alltel.net / DSL to stream? If so, please help me connect.
I have just switched over to an Alltel.net DSL connection from a local dialup ISP. I would like to begin SHOUTcasting but I am having difficulties connecting the SHOUTcast server. When I queried Radio Toolbox to see if port 8000 was open, it
indicated that the IP address it saw was probably not the real one I am probably behind a proxy. I'm sure I am. If anyone here is streaming through an Alltel.net DSL conncetion please tell me how you configured the server information. The Winamp player and DNAS server are on the same machine (Windows 98SE) I will mosy likely stream from a dedicated machine to a streaming audio provider as soom as I know I can get everything to connect properly. Thanks for your help. |

if the winamp player and dnas are on the same machine, you're not using your wan ip address are you?
I had alltel.net dsl for over 6 years, and never had a problem. In the dnas make sure your using something like "localhost" or "127.0.0.1" for the location because both apps are on the same box. The next thing you'll have to do is open your firewall or router to enable people to connect to you on port 8000. Lastly, when you're ready to go with a dedicated provider, give me a shout : matt_AT_jmhosting.net. I'm sure I'll be able to help you get started. Chew |
